PROJECT: WEBSITE DEVELOPMENT
Athlone Mixed NS is a primary school situated in Athlone, Co. Westmeath. While they had an online presence, they were unhappy with the ‘grey’ appearance and static feel of their website. They felt it didn’t properly reflect the happy, fun and nurturing ethos of the school.
We met with the school’s Principal and Vice-Principal to discuss their ideal website. They wanted a bright, fully functional website that would appeal to both the parents and the pupils. On a practical level the website would provide a place to update school events and enable the teachers to upload classroom blogs and news. Visually they wanted lots of primary colours throughout each page and for the home page, an animated banner picture with a fun, colourful appearance.
Once we took on the project we jotted down our ideas of how we’d deliver the desired website. We recommended a WordPress theme so that the school would be able to update their website via the user-friendly dashboard. We selected a number of themes and helped the school to choose one most suitable to their needs.
We trawled through the files on their old website and obtained images and text content that was of good quality. Then we commenced building the website, keeping in mind the client’s vision. We outsourced the banner picture to a local animation company, 3Ms, who designed a fantastic picture, exactly to our spec.
During the project, we met with the school a number of times to discuss the progress and ensure we were meeting their expectations. Once all of the additional content was provided, we added links, resource and policy documents and then final touches to finish the website.
We provide WordPress training to our clients so that they have full control over the content on their website.
A bright, colourful website that will appeal to the students, while also providing a vital source of information for parents. It also presents prospective parents with an insight into the school and its ethos. Finally but most importantly, the school has full control over the content they wish to upload or remove as and when required.
